Lauren Dane

New Romance Author Interview Podcasts with Phoebe Jordan on BlogTalkRadio
Today I have an RT BOOKlovers Convention special show for you because I will be chatting romance author Lauren Dane who will be talking about her novels, Undercover and Relentless, which are the first two books of Federation series and her upcoming novel, Insatiable, which is the third book of her Federation series. And she may even give us a sneak peek into some of her future books in her Federation series as well as any of her other series and novels that she may have in the works right now and any other projects. She will be telling us about her writing experience and what she has in the works writing wise.
The story goes like this: While on pregnancy bed rest, Lauren Dane had plenty of down time so her husband took her comments about “giving that writing thing a serious go” to heart and brought home a secondhand laptop. She wrote her first book on it before it gave up the ghost. Even better, she sold that book and never looked back. Today Lauren is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over sixty novels and novellas across several genres. You can find out more about her by either going to her Website, Blog, Facebook Author Page or Twitter.

HOW TO ENTER FOR A SHOT AT THE NOOK:
1. Copy the code (click on “share”) of the graphic above and post it to your blog. Add a link to my blog from your blog, saying something like, “Click here to enter Curl Up with a Book…and a Nook Contest.”

2. Publish your blog.

3. Come back here and reply to this post with a link to your blog entry and your answer to the following question: What new books are you looking forward to loading onto your Nook (should you win it) in the New Year?

If for whatever reason you’re technically challenged and can’t post the graphic, that’s okay. Just blog about the contest and provide a link to it. That’s a totally fine alternative.

What if you don’t have a blog?

Tell at least one other people about the contest who you think might want to enter. Post about it in a forum, on a loop, a friend via email, on MySpace, Facebook ect. Obviously, I can’t verify if you did it or not, so this is on the honor system. Once you’ve done that, reply to this post and tell me about it. Oh, and don’t forget to answer the question: What new books are you looking forward to loading onto your Nook (should you win it) in the New Year?

This is my third book by the author Lauren Dane and it is part of her Federation series that began with her novel, Undercover, which I had the pleasure of reading an ARC before it came out last year in December. I was lucky enough to have won this ARC of Relentless and I knew it was going to be very a great read because I loved reading her first book, Undercover, with it’s unique futuristic world. I’ve read futuristic books since I’m a fan of J.D. Robb’s In Death series but I haven’t read many erotic romances before especially with some really erotic sex scenes so this is going out of my realm of reading experience. I was warned by the author just in case because she didn’t want me to feel uncomfortable reading and reviewing this novel and I told her not to worry because I love reading new things every chance I can get since I want to become a romance writer one day. First off I have to say I’m super glad that I won the contest because I was only one of a very long, long, long list of readers and authors who wanted to get their own ARC of Relentless. Now onto the very honest review of this book that I promised to deliever to the author Lauren Dane.

Since the first settlers came through the portals from Earth, fifteen Families have held the rule of the Federated Universes in their hands. We got a glimpse of this in the first book Undercover but now you will get a more closer look at how the Federated Universes is handled by the fifteen ranked Families. There’s never been a better time than now to throw out the old and usher in a new order that leads to giving a voice to the unranked. Abbie Haws has spent her life battling the system and as a fighter, she’s always been too busy and driven to pay much attention to finding love. But when she’s granted audience with Roman Lyons, the head of House Lyons, who stands for everything she hates, her instant attraction catches Abbie off-guard. It’s common knowledge that the Known Universe revolves around Ravena—and that Ravena revolves around Roman Lyons, bred to lead since birth. Roman dreads his meeting with a defiant—if stunning—rabble-rouser because he knows that she wants to talk about making changes to the ‘Verse’s government that would not go over well with the other ranked Houses. But, sometimes, headstrong personalities in the conference room make for hot-and-heavy, guilty trysts in private and now, Abbie will show Roman the parts of her world he wouldn’t otherwise get to see. And he’ll give her a glimpse of the Families’ age old tradition and unleash a sexuality he’d never given rein to before.

I enjoyed reading Undercover because Lauren Dane wrote such a new and exciting universe filled with such characters that were complex enough to keep you guessing with every page you read. Now it was great to get to read more about this futuristic universe that Lauren created in the first book because I knew that there just was something more to the first book. We are introduced to the powerful leader of Ravena, Roman Lyons, and to the unranked advocate, Abbie Haws, in this second novel. They are both strong characters who are trying to do what is in the best interest of the people of the Known Universe both Ranked and Unranked. I was happy to read that Ash and Brandt who were the main hero characters in the previous novel made a couple of appearences in this book. They made those appearences in order to help Roman make the right decision concerning to his ever growing relationship with Abbie.

In this novel we are again dealing with an unranked woman and a ranked man falling in love with each other but having to struggle with various issues along the way that will keep them apart unless they figure something out. The heroine, Abbie, is such a strong independent character who is trying to make a difference in her world even though it may cost heer so much and maybe even her own life. She has a very horrible experience in her past that would have broken many women but she didn’t break but made it her mission in life to make it so that the unranked citizens would have their voices her by the ranked citizens. Abbie helps create an organization the will someday make it so that the unranked over every ‘Verse can have their voices heard in their government which is controlled by the ranked families.

In comes the hero, Roman, who is the head of the Lyon family and the one who is the leader of government in all the ‘Verses. He was groomed to become the head of the family and he had to take control of the family at a young age. He married into the Kerrigan family when he was 18-years-old to give that family a ranked station in the ‘Verse as well as to give the Lyon family sons. Roman loves his sons and he hopes for them to one day be good, powerful men who will make their family proud when he finally has to retire. But everything changes when Roman finally meets Abbie for the first time because I think they both have finally met their match. It was such a pleasure reading this completely HOT and SEXY novel that had me flipping the pages and steaming up my glasses every now and again. I fell in love with both Roman and Abbie that I was both happy and sad that the novel had come to an end but at least they come to have the HEA. I give this book 4 Open Books:

In this erotic universe, passion knows no rank…

This is my second book by the author Lauren Dane and my first book by the author Megan Hart who both wrote this book together. I was lucky enough to have one this ARC of Taking Care of Business and thought it would be a book that I would end up enjoying very much. I’m sorry to say that wasn’t the case when I was about a quarter into the novel and started drifting from the novel since the plot was not really grabbing my attention any more. I did finish the novel and was satisfied with the ending but throughout the novel I had to stop because I couldn’t keep my attention on the book. I thought the characters were intriguing enough when I started reading it but towards the middle of the novel I felt that there was more sex and not enough emotion to keep my interest anymore. Don’t get me wrong I enough having my romance novels full of hot steamy sexy but there has to be some emotion in it mixed with some drama and intrigue as well. I was disappointed a bit that I wasn’t getting it here even though I thought that it was going to be a good read. I enjoyed the characters Leah, Kate, Brandon and Charles a.k.a “Dix” because they are characters with personalities that captured me. That doesn’t mean that for someone else it will be disappointing because everyone has a different taste in novels and it might be just the book for you. I am sad to say that I have to give this book 3 Open Books:

Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS $ 12.95 (295 Pages)

After leaving the wrong man, Leah Griffins’ not ready to look for the right one. All she wants to do is survive the conference she’s planned and spend time with her best friend, Kate Edwards. But she never expected the conference services manger to be so tall, dark and handsome…or so eager to please. It’s Brandon Long’s job to make Leah happy, and after a scorching interlude in her hotel room, neither can deny that business has become pleasure.

Smart, driven and successful attorney Kate Edwards has spent her life making the right choices. Directly counter to those right choices, she’s involved in a long distance, secret love affair with a co-worker. And Charles Dixon is a bad choice she can’t help but make—over and over. A conference and a promotion bring Kate back to Pennsylvania and suddenly Dix wants far more than a few nights in random hotel rooms. He wants something permanent and Kate has to figure out if sometimes a wrong choice is exactly what a woman needs.

This is my first book by the author Lauren Dane and it is one amazing first book for me to read especially since it is a really large ARC of her first Berkley Heat December release. I was lucky enough to have won this ARC of Undercover and I knew it was going to be very different from any other books I’ve read because it is Futuristic, Erotic Romance, Menage and BDSM all rapped up in one very excitingly awesome novel. I’ve read futuristic books since I’m a fan of J.D. Robb’s In Death series but I haven’t read many erotic romances before especially with Menage and BDSM so this is going out of my realm of reading experience. I was warned by the author just in case because she didn’t want me to feel uncomfortable reading and reviewing this novel and I told her not to worry because I love reading new things every chance I can get since I want to become a romance writer one day. First off I have to say I’m super glad that I won the contest because I was only one of a very long, long, long list of readers and authors who wanted to get their own ARC of Undercover. Now onto the very honest review of this book that I promised to deliever to the author Lauren Dane.

Sexy, pulse-pounding, arousingly erotic and another world with restrictive laws and a dangerous truce between the Federation and Imperialist. A world with a social cast like any other but one that can ruin the lives of those who love above or below their station in live. This is a fast past novel that I enjoyed from the start to the end because it had one strong woman and two very sexy and different men working together to save their way of life. The heroine, Sera Ayers isn’t your typical woman since she lives in a very harsh society that looks down on her kind for being unranked and a woman. Sera’s life isn’t one filled with joy and blissful happiness not since her heart was broken by a ranked Family man who had held her heart in his hands but crushed it when he had to marry politically to save his family. To make it worse he even dared to ask her to be his mistress and so she left him as cruelly as he broke her tender heart.

Now 10 years later Ash Walker the man she had loved is back in her life along with Brandt Pela who are there to recruit her into their 3 man team to bring down Federation traitors. I had fun reading about Ash Walker and Sera Ayers past relationship because it gave them the personalities that they have in the present of the novel but also to understand what they were to one another was great to read. I had a bit of trouble with some of the new words that are used in this futuristic world but it didn’t stop me from enjoying all the adventures that Ash, Sera and Brandt go through in the novel. There were a lot of very erotic sexual encounters between the three of them that I enjoyed to read especially since they feel such emotions that make their threesome relationship work so well for them all. It was nice to see that the men weren’t jealous of one another because of their love for Sera and I liked that they all have an unexpected but much enjoyed Happily Ever After. I recommend this book to all Lauren Dane readers and to anyone who likes trying out different types of romances and isn’t afraid of what people will think about your reading material because this is one novel you can’t miss out on. I have this book on my wish list even though I have my Advance Readers Copy because I love the cover and the copy I have is a bit too large for me to carry around. Here is the description from the back of the book and picture:

UNDERCOVER $ 15.00 (Book 1)(328 Pages)

A sexy debut exploring an erotic future universe of passion, danger, and deceit…

On the battleground or in the bedroom, one woman and two men fight for dominance in a bold, new, and excitingly different direction in erotica…

As a lieutenant of the Federation military, Sera Ayers is accustomed to giving orders, not taking them. Now she must obey the one man she can’t stand—and can’t stop thinking about. With the enemy Imperialists gaining ground, a covert team is assembled by Ash Walker. Ten years before, Sera had lovingly submitted to Ash’s dominance in the bedroom. But when he was forced into a political marriage, she refused to play mistress. His marriage now over, Ash wants Sera on his team—and back in his bed. The third team member, Brandt Pela, has an elegance to match Ash’s savage sexuality. And when their undercover plan requires Sera to pose as Brandt’s lover, it ignites a passion among the three of them more dangerous than their mission.

Phoebe Jordan

I'm a part-time aspiring romance novelist, book reviewer and blogger. I've always wanted to travel the world and learn everything I can about other countries. Learning the Italian language is one way of trying to make that dream come true. Traveling will help me with my writing because I'll be learning about the history of the U.S., Latin America, England, Italy, and Ireland, the countries I find so fascinating while reading the romance genre. I read and review romance novels of almost every subgenre along with erotic romance, mystery, sci-fi/fantasy and young adult novels. You can find the reviews at my blogs, Talk About My Favorite Authors and Phoebe Jordan's Reviews. I’ve also started a live podcast show called TAMFA | Phoebe Jordan hosted on Blog Talk Radio. This show is dedicated to everything I love about romance and young adult novels. I love having romance and young adult authors live on my show to be interviewed and showcase their books. I plan to write contemporary romance, romantic suspense, erotic romance, paranormal romance and young adult when I get my writing career started with help from Keta. I'm not sure what genre I'll write to begin with since I love to read so many different romance genres.
