Buchanan Family Series

Since this book and series has already been described in detail, I thought about adding my own thoughts to the mix 😉

Shadow Dance was the first of the Buchanan series I read (true to my nature I read the rest of series in disorder haha), and I fell totally in love with Garwood’s contemporaries (Noah, especially. He’s such a goofball *loves*). I later read a few of her historicals and didn’t quite enjoy them as much as her contemporaries *shrugs* But that’s personal preference. I know lots of people prefer her historicals over her contemps. But, I digress. So, here goes:

This book is a romance and thriller at once. Add in some contemporary shake, and you’ve got Shadow Dance. I rather liked that the title is a play on Jordan’s father’s situation (bodyguards shadowing his every step) inadvertently happening to her when she finds the dead body of a historian she’s met two days prior in the trunk of her car and her brother Nick and Noah Clayborne, two FBI agents, fly at her aid. Hence, being shadowed by bodyguards of sort. Then Nick has to leave, for matters unknown, and suddenly begins a dance of should-shouldn’ts with Noah even as they try to find the real murderer, who proves to be one heck of a surprise.

This is a great read, and I found it refreshing, witty and intelligent and less tedious than some of her previous works. The writing is fast-paced, which makes sense as this is a thriller as well, and Jordan and Noah’s relationship does not bloom quite as suddenly as has been said. Re-reading through it, you’ll find that Noah unknowingly had feelings WAY before they even began *cough* dancing. Anyway, hopefully we’ll get to read more about Jordan and Noah and their treasure hunt!

I love Susan Mallery and I love her books. The Buchanan Family Series is a good series to read and I enjoyed it because it had some funny scenes and romantic scenes. The Buchanan Family is made up of 3 brothers and 1 sister and put them all together with their cold hearted grandmother makes for some good reading. Here are the descriptions of the books from the back covers and pictures:

DELICIOUS $ 6.99 (Book 1)(377 Pages)

Lori’s never wasted her time with amoebas like Reid Buchanan. So why are her well-fortified defenses starting to crumble under the force of his sexy smile—and the kindness he shows her at every turn? There’s only one explanation for the feelings flaring between them—chemistry. Chemistry so hot, it’s sizzling!

TEMPTING $ 6.99 (Book 4)(379 Pages)

Nothing’s hotter than a disaster in the making…
After three romantic flame-outs in a year and a restaurant career going nowhere, Dani Buchanan needs a fresh start. Dani isn’t about to let Alec run her life, no matter how tempting she finds him—and Alex isn’t going to allow Dani to melt his cynicism, no matter how close he has to get. The last thing either of them wants is love, especially with scandals brewing and family trouble on the way. But Dani and Alex are forced to trust each other, and when trust turns to passion, the potential disaster is only a tabloid scandal away.
I love the Buchanan family and Julie Garwood has both good contemporary and historical romances. SHADOW DANCE $ 25.95 (Book 6)(336 Pages)(also in mass market paperback $ 7.99)

Jordan Buchanan is thrilled that her brother and best friend are tying the knot. The wedding is a lavish affair—for the marriage of Dylan Buchanan and Kate MacKenna is no ordinary occasion. It represents the joining of two family dynasties. The ceremony and reception proceed without a hitch—until a crasher appears claiming to be a MacKenna guest. The disheveled and eccentric professor of medieval history warns that there’s “bad blood” between the couples clans, stemming and involving the Buchanan theft of a coveted MacKenna treasure.

Jordan has always led a cautious life and has used her intelligence and reason to become a successful businesswoman. So she is intrigued but skeptical of the professor’s claims that the feud has been kept alive by the grave injustices the Buchanans have perpetrated over the centuries. But when Noah Clayborne, a close family friend and a man who has never let a good time or a pretty girl pass him by, accuse Jordan of being trapped in her comfort zone, she determines to prove him wrong and sets out on a spontaneous adventure to the small, dusty town of Serenity, Texas, to judge the professor’s research for herself.

Maneuvering through a close-knit community in which everyone knows everyone else’s business, Jordan never anticipates the danger and intrigue that lie in her path, nor the threat that will shadow her back to Boston, where even in familiar surroundings, her life is at risk.

A powerful thug who rules by fear, a man who harbors a simmering secret, and an unexpected romance that pierces all defenses—beloved author Julie Garwood weaves these dazzling elements into a brilliant novel of romantic suspense. Shadow Dance is a searing tango of passion and peril.

I'm a part-time aspiring romance novelist, book reviewer and blogger. I've always wanted to travel the world and learn everything I can about other countries. Learning the Italian language is one way of trying to make that dream come true. Traveling will help me with my writing because I'll be learning about the history of the U.S., Latin America, England, Italy, and Ireland, the countries I find so fascinating while reading the romance genre. I read and review romance novels of almost every subgenre along with erotic romance, mystery, sci-fi/fantasy and young adult novels. You can find the reviews at my blogs, Talk About My Favorite Authors and Phoebe Jordan's Reviews. I’ve also started a live podcast show called TAMFA | Phoebe Jordan hosted on Blog Talk Radio. This show is dedicated to everything I love about romance and young adult novels. I love having romance and young adult authors live on my show to be interviewed and showcase their books. I plan to write contemporary romance, romantic suspense, erotic romance, paranormal romance and young adult when I get my writing career started with help from Keta. I'm not sure what genre I'll write to begin with since I love to read so many different romance genres.
