MaryJanice Davidson

New Romance Author Interview Podcasts with Phoebe Jordan on BlogTalkRadio

Today I have an RT BOOKlovers Convention special show for you because I will be chatting romance author MaryJanice Davidson who will be talking about her currently released novel, Undead and Unwelcome, which is the eighth book of her Undead series and her upcoming novel, Undead and Unfinished, which is the ninth book of her Undead series. And she may even give us a sneak peek into some of her future books in her Undead series as well as any of her other series and novels that she may have in the works right now and any other projects. She will be telling us about her writing experience and what she has in the works writing wise.
MaryJanice Davidson is a former model and medical test subject, as well as a New York Times best-selling author who has no idea why she is a success at what she does. (“No idea. At all.”) Her books have been translated into several languages and are available in 15 countries (“No one is more surprised than I.”). She frequently speaks to book clubs (“I don’t know why my books sell.”), writer’s groups (“I don’t know why I’m on best-seller lists.”), and World War Two veterans (“Thanks for driving Hitler to suicide!”). She lives with husband, family, and dogs in St. Paul, MN, and loves (“No, really…I do!”) hearing from readers. You can find out more about her by either going to her Website, Blog, Facebook Author Page or Twitter.
MaryJanice Davidson is a really good author that I recommend to anyone who loves to laugh when they read a book. The Fred the Mermaid Series is a hilarious paranormal romance about a Mermaid named Fred and the Prince of the Merpeople named Artur and a Marine biologist named Thomas in this love triangle. Right now there are 2 books published and I’m hoping that a new book in this series will come out soon. This second book was such a joy to read and it was so funny. I think that Fred the mermaid is not what you would expect a mermaid to be like and that just makes the story so much more interesting. I really recommend this book and this series. I do have to say that it has a cliff hanger ending but it is not that bad it just makes me really anxious for the next book to come out. Here are the description of the book from the back of the cover and picture:

SWIMMING WITHOUT A NET $ 7.99 (Book 2)(281 Pages)

Plenty of Fish in the Sea

It’s not normal for a mermaid to hate being in open water, but Fred never claimed to be normal. To visit the undersea realm of Artur, the High Prince, and the rest of the royal merfamily, she has to fin it to the Cayman Islands. Luckily, hunky marine biologist Thomas is along for the swim—in his custom made underwater RV. He’ll be able to explore where no “outlander” has gone before and give Fred a place to escape to when the Undersea Folk start getting on her nerves.

But as Fred tries to fit in with her own kind, she finds herself hooked on both Artur and Thomas, and caught between two factions of merfolk: those happy with swimming under the radar—and those who want to bring their existence to the surface.

SLEEPING WITH THE FISHES $ 7.99 (Book 1)(284 Pages)

A Fish Out of Water
Fred is a mermaid. But stop right there. Whatever image you’re thinking of right now forget it. Fred is not blonde. She’s not buxom. And she’s definitely not perky. In fact, Fred can be downright cranky. And it doesn’t help matters that her hair is ocean-colored.

Being a mermaid does help Fred when she works at the New England Aquarium. But, needless to say, it’s there that she gets involved in something fishy. Weird levels of toxins have been found in the local water. A gorgeous marine biologist wants her help investigating. So does her merperson ruler, the High Prince of the Black Sea. You’d think it would be easy for mermaid to get to the bottom of things. Think again…
MaryJanice Davidson is a really good author that I recommend to anyone who loves to laugh when they read a book. The Queen Betsy Undead Series is hilarious stuff about vampires, which is a really cool change after reading some much scarying stuff about vampires. Right now there are 6 books published from this series but the 7th book called Undead & Unworthy is supposed to be published in July. Here are the descriptions of the books from the back of the cover and pictures:

UNDEAD & UNWED $ 6.99 (Book 1)(277 Pages)

From Just-Laid-Off Secretary to Queen of the Undead…

It’s been a helluva week for Betsy Taylor. First, she loses her job. Then, to top things off, she’s killed in a car accident. But what really bites (besides waking up in the morgue dressed in a pink suit and cheap shoes courtesy of her stepmother) is that she can’t seem to stay dead. Every night she rises, with a horrible craving for blood. She’s not taking too well to a liquid diet.

Worst of all, her new friends have the ridiculous idea that Betsy is the prophesied vampire queen, and they want her help in overthrowing the most obnoxious, power-hungry vampire in five centuries—a badly dressed Bela Lugosi wannabe, natch. Frankly, Betsy couldn’t careless about vamp politics, but they have a powerful weapon of persuasion: designer shoes. How can any self-respecting girl say no? But a collection of Ferragamos isn’t the only temptation for Betsy. It’s just a lot safer than the scrumptious Sinclair—a seductive bloodsucker whose sexy gaze seems as dangerous as a stake through the heart…

UNDEAD & UNEMPLOYED $ 7.99 (Book 2)(294 Pages)

She may be the Queen of the Undead, but she still has “sole.”

Nothing can make Betsy Taylor give up her shoe fetish—even dying and rising as the new Queen of the Vampires. Being royally undead isn’t all it’s cracked up to be—there are still bills to be paid. And Betsy is determined to life as normally as possible, even if it means getting a job. A “feet” she accomplishes with panache, landing her dream job selling designer shoes at Macy’s.

Things couldn’t be better—except for her new friends, who keep pestering her while she’s on the clock. As if she has time to socialize when there are deliciously sinful shoes to try on—and buy at a discount. It seems that vampires are being murdered in St. Paul, and they’re all clamoring for Betsy to do something about it. The worst part is she’s going to have to enlist the help of the one vamp who makes her blood boil: the oh-so-sexy Sinclair. Now, she’s really treading on dangerous ground—high heels and all…

UNDEAD & UNAPPRECIATED $ 21.95 (Book 3)(271 Pages)(also in mass market paperback $ 6.99)

Now, Betsy continues her reluctant reign while being bedeviled by family secrets…

Most women would love to live as royalty, but Betsy had found that being vampire queen has more problems than perks, except for always being awake for Midnight Madness sales. It may be easy to find blood (yuck) in the dark of night, but try finding a strawberry smoothie. And employees at her nightclub Scratch have been giving her nothing but grief since she killed their former boss. Some people…

But Betsy’s “life” takes an interesting turn at a shower for her wicked stepmother, who lets it slip that Betsy has a long-lost half sister. Now twenty years old, this woman just so happens to be the devil’s daughter—and destined to rule the world.

UNDEAD & UNRETURNABLE $ 6.99 (Book 4)(264 Pages)

As if she needed yet another reason to shop. Queen of the Vampires Betsy Taylor is in the middle of planning the perfect wedding to drop-dead gorgeous vamp Eric Sinclair. And she’s not about to let little things like death and blood-drinking get in her way.

But all is not bouquets and bridal showers—Betsy is plagued by ghosts who demand her help in rectifying their past mistakes, and a serial killer is on the loose. With his victims all being tall, blond women, Betsy fits the profile exactly…

UNDEAD & UNPOPULAR $ 22.95 (Book 5)(257 Pages)(also in mass market paperback $ 7.99)

I tapped my pencil on the pad, trying to come up with a plan to tell my fiancé, Eric Sinclair, that I had decided to completely give up the blood-drinking thing. I figured being the vampire queen had a few advantages—as it was, every vampire I’d ever known had to drink every day, even Eric. But I could go up to a week without so much as a drop of O-neg. So, in honor of my birthday, and being in this job for a year. I figured I’d give it up completely. I would be in a blood-free zone!

Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor already has plenty on her plate. For one thing, next week is her birthday—the big 3-1 in human years, and one in undead years. (Yes, she bit the dust on her birthday last year.) On top of that, she still has wedding plans to finalize—and it’s not helping that the prospective groom is avoiding anything to do with it. and then there’s her decision to stop drinking blood—something she has yet to share with Eric Sinclair, her fiancé—who also happens to be the vampire king…

So the last thing she wants to deal with is uninvited guests, even if they happen to be the powerful European vampires who have finally come to pay their respects the week before her birthday. Some of them don’t want Betsy as their queen and will do anything to get rid of her. As if turning thirty last year (not to mention dying) hadn’t been traumatic enough. And trying to give up blood is making her really cranky…But who has time to sulk? Well, Betsy does…in the latest novel in the New York Times bestselling series Christine Feehan calls “delightful, wicked fun.”

UNDEAD & UNEASY $ 23.95 (Book 6)(272 Pages)(also in mass market paperback $ 7.99 coming out on Tuesday, March 25)

You are cordially invited to the wedding of Elizabeth Anne Taylor and Eric Sinclair
607 Summit Ave
Midnight
July 4, 2007
RSVP by June 25, and don’t be like one of those jerks who doesn’t RSVP and then shows up with three people. Seriously.

In the days leading up The Big Day, Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor seems to have a full house—and the wedding guests have yet to arrive. Along with her human buddies, there’s a ghost, a werewolf, and a Fiend crashing at her place. And though her fiancé, Vampire King Eric Sinclair, conveniently disappears when the conversation turns to seating charts and flower arrangements, he does manage to make his oh-so-sexy presence known at other moments.
Betsy knows the next few weeks won’t be smooth sailing—but she never expects just what’s in store for her. Cold feet are no surprise, especially with an undead groom. But when Sinclair truly goes missing—and not just to avoid wedding preparations—along with most of her friends and loved ones, Betsy is frantic. Alone and afraid for the fate of everyone she loves, Betsy can’t trust anyone as she treads to find them and whoever is behind all the disappearances. And what happens next will shake the foundation of the vampire world forever in the bestselling series that “breath(es) new life into conventional vampire lore.”

Phoebe Jordan

I'm a part-time aspiring romance novelist, book reviewer and blogger. I've always wanted to travel the world and learn everything I can about other countries. Learning the Italian language is one way of trying to make that dream come true. Traveling will help me with my writing because I'll be learning about the history of the U.S., Latin America, England, Italy, and Ireland, the countries I find so fascinating while reading the romance genre. I read and review romance novels of almost every subgenre along with erotic romance, mystery, sci-fi/fantasy and young adult novels. You can find the reviews at my blogs, Talk About My Favorite Authors and Phoebe Jordan's Reviews. I’ve also started a live podcast show called TAMFA | Phoebe Jordan hosted on Blog Talk Radio. This show is dedicated to everything I love about romance and young adult novels. I love having romance and young adult authors live on my show to be interviewed and showcase their books. I plan to write contemporary romance, romantic suspense, erotic romance, paranormal romance and young adult when I get my writing career started with help from Keta. I'm not sure what genre I'll write to begin with since I love to read so many different romance genres.
