I love the Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris. Sookie Stackhouse is the main character of the series and she is one funny lady. Charlaine Harris is a very good author and I love her books but I only have her Sookie Stackhouser a.k.a. the Southern Vampire Series but she has other books and another series that she writes and which I’ve heard are really good. So far there are 8 published books in the series but the 9th book in the series called Dead and Gone is coming out on Tuesday, May 5. I’ve read the first 7 books before it became it hit HBO TV series called True Blood and though I don’t have HBO I’ve seen the first episode of the show at a friends house. I thought it was pretty good but you know how things are when they turn a book into a movie or TV show. It’s not the same but at least you have a visual of each character so when you read the books again or read future books in the series you have an idea of what each character looks like.
Club Dead is the third book in the series and this is where Sookie’s vampires aren’t the only paranormal creatures in the world. Sookie meets Alcide the werewolf in this novel because he is going to help her find out about her missing vampire boyfriend Bill. I’m liking the new paranormal creatures that are being introduced in this novel because it is more interesting to read about more than one paranormal creature than just one such as vampires. This book was also so great to read because Sookie is a more developed character than the previous two books. Sookie has a new life with more troubles than she can handle but it’s sometimes better than a boring same day over and over life that she was living before meeting Bill. Things are also getting very heated between Eric and Sookie since Bill has been missing and even before he was gone.
Eric is one of my favorite vampires since he is such an interesting character that can be frustrating and funny at the same time. By the end of this book I was not happy with the way thing turned out for Sookie because Bill has betrayed her in the worst way possible for both a human or vampire. So Bill the vampire is in my don’t like list because like Sookie I don’t think I could ever forgive him for his betrayal. Like the previous 2 books in the series I’ve read this book about 5 times since I first bought it. I do this because with each new book in the series I like to read the previous books to get in touch with the characters again. Here is the description of the books from the back covers and pictures:
CLUB DEAD $ 7.99 (Book 3)(258 Pages)
There’s only one vampire Sookie Stackhouse is involved with (at least voluntarily) and that’s Bill. But recently he’s been a little distant—in another state, distant. His sinister and sexy boss Eric has an idea where to find him. Next thing Sookie knows, she is off to Jackson, Mississippi to mingle with the under-underworld at Club Dead. It’s a dangerous little haunt where the elitist vampire society can go to chill out and such down some type O. but when Sookie finally finds Bill—caught in an act of serious betrayal—she’s not sure whether to save him…or sharpen some stakes.
